Student access centre

Our student access centre embraces students with additional needs, be they the gifted and talented or those for whom English is a second language. In keeping with the Academy’s ethos of inclusiveness, the student access department continues to expand its personnel and resources to best serve the Academy community.

Gifted and Talented students are identified and given additional support to ensure their abilities are challenged and extended. They are known in the Academy as “Lead Learners” and are key players in raising standards in the Academy.

Student access centre staff will provide support in curriculum areas via liaison with the mainstream subject teachers and will ensure that the individual student’s learning style is at the forefront of planning. The student access centre is open before and after Academy hours.
